Analysis of Characters in Annissa and Personal Response

Pretty pretty women indeed. If I were a man, I would be sticking to the screen you have to peel me off the screen.

This drama starts off a few weeks ago and in the first episode, the tension is already brought up where Anna (Fiza Elite), Balkis (Rozita Che Wan), Shila (Faradhiya) and Sara (Aida Aris) face the crisis with the their textile company.

I’m not going to do a thorough recap on this one but instead I’m interested in making analysis of the characters of this drama. I must say, this drama is really bringing up the theme of back-stabbing among the close friends (or even best friends!).

Let’s start with the only protagonist in this drama which is Anna. Apparently, she’s the big boss in the company. She seems to know her three best friends pretty well but what she doesn’t know is that all the three of them are pretty problematic towards her. I really feel sympathy towards this lady. On the surface, all of three of her best friends seem to be caring towards her but the truth is, they are all up for so something which is to steel something from her (either the money from the company and even her husband respectively). Sara is the only exception as she quits all of sudden and just disapears until the current episode. And yeah Anna’s husband, Farid is another problem for her. This makes the three of them (Balkis, Shila and Farid) are the back stabbers; back stabbing Anna slowly and quietly. Anna who happens to be the victim in this drama, keeps on trusting the people around her including her own husband. She already suspects her husband cheating in her but she can’t seem to guess that her husband cheats on her with her own best friend Balkis! And to make the reason more concrete for Farid to find another wife is, Anna is sterile. The drama between Balkis and Farid really pisses me off!

Balkis is one of the best friends of Anna. She’s the ultimate back stabber of all! How could she gets married with Anna’s husband if she ever considers Anna as her friend??!! And to add more fuel to my anger, she plays it so cool in front of Anna who always tells everything about her husband’s misbehavior behind Anna’s back. How are you going to live when Anna finds out? This will more interesting now that Balkis is pregnant. Let’s see how will it goes..

Shila is in-charged for the company financial affairs. She takes this opportunity to sneak out the company’s money as millions as possible and then manipulates Anna with fake reports.  However, so far Anna doesn’t seem to know about any of this yet. Not even a hint. Now who should Anna trust? We still have Sara to count on nevertheless.

This character is very mysterious so far. There’s only one hint which the reason why she quits her job all of sudden is that she’s very sick and has to go through an operation. Most probably brain cancer. She doesn’t tell her friends about it. Sara is Anna’s only hope to rely on and trust.

Anna’s drama king husband. He puts a lot of acts in front of Anna and a boy will always have the dumb side of him where he can’t hide it. He keeps spilling the truth of him marrying another wife and that makes Anna furious! This man has a solid motive to marry another one, since his wife sterile. Heh. I loathe this type of man to bits and poor Anna too. What are you going to do now Anna? She even trusts Balkis to hire a spy to spy on her husband and as expected, the spy is a total joke. Balkis must have done her part with it.

This poor poor man is a cover-up for Balkis and Farid relationship. How could there are such cruel people like those brats in this world?! Balkis uses him as her “boyfriend” to blindfold everyone where as sneaking Farid to her home whenever they get the chance.

My Personal Response:

I like a drama that portrays the suffer of every woman (or man) to go through life in order to achieve happiness. And in this drama I like Anna character the most as she is the most stressful character in the drama. Stressful because she has to face all the consequences of the actions of people around her. Just how is she going to deal with the truth once they come out? I hope Sara will be fine after the operation and she helps Anna to go through the mess and together they build up the company back on track again.

If I were Anna, once the truth comes out, I will shove Balkis and Shila out of the company and Farid, just let’s see how well will he plead. That will be the hardest but the most unforgiving part is he cheats on her with her own best friend. I don’t think I will ever accept that no matter how many people keep on reminding me how divine it is to forgive people.

But I must say, every one did a good job in playing their roles. This drama seems to have long way to go. And this analysis will change from time to time. I will try to update about it once I feel like doing it.

Sometimes I wish to have a laotong too..

Here’s what’s happened. I think I just lose a best friend. No, no no. She’s got married last week!

There’s a childish side of me who keeps being immature until now. I somehow still can’t accept it. We grew up together and we even planned a lot of plans to do together. But all those plans are just plans. She got married as simple as that and all our plans had been cancelled.

One obvious thing I realized is that we can never be best friends anymore. Her life is all about her husband now. I can never butt into her life anymore. She can never be there anymore for me. Best friend can never be applied anymore.

Wait. Listen first. I know this might sound like an ever-complaint brat, but seriously I feel the pain deep inside my heart. It is like a loss that can never be restored back. To my disappointment even more, she looked so happy about it; about leaving me behind and never cares for how will I survive after this.

And that is why I think I need a laotong too. Laotong is a Chinese term which brings the meaning of ‘old same’. I came to find the term from the book I’m reading right now, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan” by Lisa See.

I’m not going to discuss about the book here but I’m just longing for some one who I can lean on to, a friend just like a laotong in the storybook where I can share the ups and downs of my life even when the two laotongs are married and live far away from each other. They will always find ways to contact each and always care for each other until they die. Read the book and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Even this got me thinking, it is possible for two girls to remain best friends forever and ever?

I don’t think so!

Here is why; girls will be bound to her husbands’ orders only and will not have the time to spend with her friends like they used to. SMS and calling, yes but still…. My point here is just, I don’t think we girls should work hard to maintain the ‘best friend’ status. Really. Soon after the girls get married, there won’t be any best friends between them. Trust me.

Or maybe I just overreact with this one. Pfft. Owh well, I better find some good Korean dramas to watch rather than to think of this nonsense ramblings.

p/s, can’t wait to write my first review on Malay drama!

Up-coming Drama..

I admit, I’m addicted to Korean dramas. I’m sooo addicted I couldn’t concentrate on other things for days and this made me thinking why can’t I feel the same way for our local dramas?

So, here I am, going to review on our local dramas and hoping to gather a lot more Malay drama lovers out there. We can share our opinions as in criticizing in the positive ways so that watching drama will be a lot more meaningful. The most important thing here is to respect each others’ opinions. Since this is my first time doing this, I might lack in a lot of ways, but I’m trying my best to become better and better in this.

I’ve always loved Aaron Aziz’s actings (and love him to bits! ehe) and for my excitement, his dramas are blooming like mushrooms after the rain right now. I’m one happy pearl indeed! Nora Elena is coming to an end this week and I’m sure a lot of people would cry a bucket if the two leading actors won’t end up with each other. But fret not, they will end up together, just wait and see.

I’m all geared up for the upcoming drama “Stanza Cinta” which to be aired this Sunday and Aaron Aziz is the leading actor again! Weeeeeeee!

Dayum, the drama will only be once a week! Urgh! I hate it. And looking at the poster above, Fizz Fairuz looks like is going to be the second leading actor. This man has the best quality for a pious man. Nur Kasih is his ultimate pious role in his career. I can never imagine him as a bad guy in my mind as his image just doesn’t fit for it. I really need to shove out the image of him as a gangster in one of the movie which I forgot the title. So tak seswai! But that’s just my opinion. It’s actually a good way to put more rows into his portfolio. Way to go man!

And Nur Fathia, I only notice her in Nur Kasih the series as Nur Amina’s best friend. She did a good job in that one and my friends and I would always have the spot for her as being very beautiful. She looks all sweets covered up. So I’m looking forward for her acting in this one. I’m sure she will do a good job for this one as she has to act besides Aaron Aziz a very experienced actor compared to her.

Aaron Aziz, my my, I don’t have much to say but only to expect an explosive acting from him again as being all romantic and super sweet gentleman just like Seth Tan. The character is surreal, but there you go, it is a novel adaptation so people shouldn’t be surprise of the exaggeration of the character. Seriously, that man Seth is being sooo sweet that if I were Nora Elena I would have gotten diabetics already! Grr!

Stanza Cinta is also an adaptation from a novel so I’m expecting a more fairy tale like story again this time. I love this whole fairy tale thing as it is a form of escapism from the reality. Just like Edward Cullen! It’s surreal and yet so much of romance exploded that we’d die for! Okay, get back to this one. This premise looks so convincing, and perhaps it can be a vaccine to cure the Nur Kasih fever. I never read the novel but I’m guessing it is a type of bad boy gone good drama. The heroin will fall for him and ignores the originally good from the root man. This is typical I know but I’m looking forward for the storyline in between; the obstacles they will have to go through, the amount of angst, and etc. I’m pretty sure I will need tissues too for this one. Just look at the poster again, the actors and actress look like they are having so many problems before they achieve the happily ever after ending. Sobs. I can feel it now. I hope it will not fail me.

I thought I want to read the novel but when I think again, maybe not. Right now I’m reading a book “Snow Flower and a Secret Fan” by Lisa See. That story will also come out with a motion picture and so far the story has been very appealing to me and it deserves another post for it.

And so, Stanza Cinta, please be good! I’m so excited to talk about all the good things about it! Sunday, please come quick!
